The SPICED Scheme – Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development – is a flagship financial assistance programme launched by the Spices Board of India under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Applications are open till 31 August 2026.

What is the SPICED Scheme?

The SPICED Scheme is designed to strengthen India’s spice sector across the entire value chain – from farm to export. It provides financial support for cultivation, post-harvest management, quality improvement, value addition, export promotion, and capacity building. The scheme offers subsidy up to ₹2 Crore per unit/organisation/consortium as per scheme guidelines.

Objectives of the SPICED Scheme

• Enhance productivity and quality of spices
• Promote post-harvest management and value addition
• Strengthen export competitiveness of Indian spices
• Encourage sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices
• Improve infrastructure and food safety compliance
• Support GI-tagged, organic, and value-added spice production

• Farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs)
• Cooperatives
• Spice Exporters, Importers, and Merchant Exporters (with valid CRES)
• Spice Processing Units and Value Addition Units
• Start-ups and MSMEs
• Research Institutions and other Stakeholders

Note: Preference is given to first-time applicants and Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

• Cultivation Development – Replanting, rejuvenation of cardamom, micro-irrigation, organic farming, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
• Post-Harvest Infrastructure – Modern dryers, slicers, dehullers, grading machines, turmeric boilers, spice polishers
• Quality Improvement & Food Safety – In-house testing labs, food safety certifications, global phytosanitary compliance
• Value Addition & Product Development – Spice Incubation Centres, packaging innovation, product diversification
• Export Promotion & Market Access – International trade fairs, buyer-seller meets, global branding of Indian spices
• Capacity Building, Training & Awareness – Training programmes, field demonstrations, extension services for farmers, SHGs, and FPOs

Financial Assistance Details

• Subsidy up to ₹2 Crore per project
• Assistance as per prescribed norms under the SPICED Scheme guidelines
• Support for capital investment, infrastructure, quality improvement, and marketing activities
• Maximum subsidy of ₹2 Crore per unit/organisation/consortium
