About Ministry of Fisheries

The Ministry of Fisheries, also known as the Department of Fisheries or similar names depending on the country, is a government department or ministry responsible for managing and regulating fisheries and aquaculture activities within a specific jurisdiction. Its primary goal is to ensure the sustainable and responsible use of aquatic resources, protect and conserve marine ecosystems, and support the development of the fishing and aquaculture industries.

PMMSY

Scheme duration: FY 2020-21 to 2024-25
Subsidy details: 40% for open and 60% for SC/ST/Women

Subsidy scheme details: 

Construction of large Marine Finfish Hatcheries
Establishment of Fresh water Ornamental Fish Brood Bank
Plant of minimum 50-ton capacity
Large Mills of production capacity of 20 ton /Day
Fish Feed Plants of production Capacity of at least 100 ton /Day
Construction of fish retail markets including ornamental fish/aquarium market
Support for acquisition of Deep-sea fishing vessels for traditional fishermen

Subsidy amount:

Rs.1 crore for General and 1.5 crore for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 2.50 crore)
Rs.40 lac for General and 60 lac for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 1.00 crore)
Rs.60 lac for General and 90 lac for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 1.50 crore)
Rs.80 lac for General and 120 lac for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 2.00 crore)
Rs.2.60 crore for General and 3.90 crore for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 6.50 crore)
Rs.40 lac for General and 60 lac for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 1.00 crore)
Rs.48 lac for General and 72 lac for SC/ST/Women (Project cost upto 1.20 crore)
